Built With Safety In Mind

How Moxies uses a safe-by-design approach to support girls’ well-being online

Today’s girls aren’t just aimlessly scrolling; they’re shaping trends, influencing what their families buy, and building authentic friendships through digital play. But most platforms weren’t built with their well-being in mind. That’s why we created Moxies: a safe, fun, and fully moderated space designed just for them.

On Moxies, girls can express themselves, connect with friends, and take on fun daily challenges while building healthy digital habits. With strong privacy, gentle screen time nudges, and confidence-boosting content, we’re making sure growing up online feels safe, fun, and meaningful.

We've been building Moxies hand-in-hand with our community of parents and girls, while collaborating with leading tech researchers to inform and strengthen our approach.

Tweens are at a uniquely distinct stage of life as they are figuring out friendships, identity, confidence, and much more. And according to the latest APA guidelines, that means they need extra care online:
👉 Boundaries around AI and chatbot relationships
👉 High privacy settings by default
👉 Clear limits on how often and how long they interact with content
👉 Human oversight and transparency are built into the experience

That’s exactly what we’ve done at Moxies.

Safe by Design
Not an afterthought. From moderated chats to invite-only groups, everything’s built to keep things kind, secure, and age-appropriate.

High-Privacy Defaults
We start with the highest safety settings, so parents don’t have to toggle a million switches to feel peace of mind.

Group Chats with Guardrails
Chats are private, invite-only, and monitored for tone and content. Girls can talk to their Girl Scout Troop, classmates, sports team, camp crew, and so on. NO strangers, NO spam, and NO pressure.

Time Limits & Nudges
We gently encourage screen breaks, downtime, and balance. Tech should fit into life, not take it over.

Creative Expression That’s Actually Age-Appropriate
Users can design avatars, earn badges, and play challenges designed to support genuine self-esteem, not likes or filters.

We know the internet wasn’t built with girls or well-being in mind. So we decided to build something that was.

If we want better digital spaces for kids, we can’t wait around for regulations to catch up. We’ve got to build differently right now. And that’s what we’re doing!
